DECEMBER'S TOP VIDEO ADVERTISERS:
Chances are you saw a Microsoft tablet/laptop ad squaring off with a MacBook over the holidays. That's because Microsoft was the number one video advertiser for the month of December. We detected 91 unique creatives released during the month on an average of 100** sites per day (Top Sites: espn.go.com, youtube.com, cnn.com).
Between the Chromecast, Chromebook and cell phones - Google also made a hard push during the holidays to capture consumer interest with 135 unique creatives. 38% of Google's total impressions were purchased directly from the publisher targeting top sites like youtube.com (owned by Google), aol.com and news.yahoo.com.
The finance giant used the holidays to heavily promote its online trading and investing service, MerrillEdge, accounting for 26 of the total 52 unique creatives released during the month. With 69% of total impressions purchased via ad networks, their top sites were aol.com, centurylink.net, thestreet.com
With a bevy of brands under its umbrella like Febreeze, Tide, Swiffer and Tampax - it's no surprise that they landed in the top 5 with a whopping total of 287 unique creatives on an average of 224 sites per day. Purchasing 67% of their total impressions through ad networks, top sites included espn.com, hulu.com, and nbcnews.com.
Who wouldn't want Santa to bring them a shiny new car? Ford went mostly direct accounting for 70% of their total impressions with top sites being accuweather.com, examiner.com, and finance.yahoo.com. We detected 96 unique creatives on an average of 84 sites per day.
